When I reluctantly agreed to have my wife baptize our children I knew technically they could never be Jewish. I am not religious so that's fine and with me as a dad I always knew they would turn out to be "culturally Jewish" - that is to say they would prefer a bagel to wonder bread, Woody allen to Jeff Foxworthy etc.

After tonight I am not so sure.

My wife made an amazing Italian meal - pasta (homemade "gravy" of course), chicken parm, meatballs and sausages. The four of us sat down together to dive in when suddenly one of my daughters (I will not say which one - she is currently in JPP, Jewish Protection Program) ask for...dare I say...

A glass of milk.

Pasta, milk. Pasta, milk. Did I hear that right? Surely she asked for a cream soda, and egg cream or some Manischewitz. Nope.

A tall glass if milk.

Now, if you are reading this and the simple idea of this deadly combo doesn't make you throw up a little in your mouth - you are exactly what I feared she would become. Goyem.

I suddenly had visions of singing Kumbya, watching golf, mountain climbing and going to see the Blue Collar Comedy tour live.

And a little piece of me died inside.

I would think her Italian mother would be more upset about the milk drinking. Anyway... don't worry... she is more likely becoming a WASP than a redneck.
